Vertical machining centre is for heavy duty

08.03.2008

An open fronted, heavy duty, 15kW vertical machining centre has CNC with a series of easy-to-use cycles designed to simplify and speed up programming times

Ward CNC will be showing the Hartford Tornado HCMC-15-AG open fronted, heavy duty vertical machining centre (VMC) at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition. The VMC has a table of 1650mm by 820mm/2000mm by 920mm to accommodate 2,200/3,000kg loads. It has travels in X-, Y- and Z-axis of 1500mm by 820mm by 700mm/1800mm by 920mm by 700mm (optionally 800mm).

The standard 15kW spindle motor produces 10,000 rev/min (direct drive) and tool capacity is 40 via the arm-type automatic toolchanger (ATC).

Of heavy-duty cast iron construction, the Tornado incorporates four shear-hardened and ground box slideways, 20/25 bar through-spindle coolant, fourth axis interface and is capable of rigid tapping.

Optional extras include NC rotary index tables, part probing and tool presetting probe.

* CNC has easy-to-use cycles - the machine features Hartol-Fanuc AI200 (21iMB) CNC.

Its user-friendly Hartrol advanced functionality programming routines offer a series of easy-to-use cycles to simplify and speed up programming times and therefore reduce downtime along with other useful setting and maintenance functions for ease of operator use.

For example, the routines embrace workpiece datum setting using edge setter, manual tool setting using calibrated setting block, tool magazine tracking (for arm-type ATC), tool logging and spindle load monitor, as well as full M Code listings and a comprehensive set of special canned cycles.
