Die-sinking EDMs offer higher accuracy

15.01.2008

Die-sinking EDMs have, as standard, quality glass scales, which continuously measure and correct axis positions, ensuring that all components are in the required range of accuracy

GF AgieCharmilles' Form 20/30 range of die-sinking EDM machines emphasize production efficiencies, reliability and ease of use. The company said at EMO 2007 that its Form 20/30 adds profitability without extreme investment. It is backed by more than 100 years of combined EDM know-how and the industry's most comprehensive offering in terms of services, consumables and spare- and expendable parts, all from a single source.

The Form 20/30 has a C-frame and cross-table design for the standard workshop environment and related temperature fluctuations, which can affect machine accuracy.

The Form 20/30's mechanical structure includes standard quality glass scales which continuously measure and correct axis positions, ensuring that all components are in the required range of accuracy.

In addition, the Form 20/30 range offers a large working area well-suited to multiple-component production without any geometrical cavity deviation related to their position on the table.

The Form 20 and Form 30 range allows users to program a job without any prior knowledge and quickly yield the desired geometrical results in cavities.

The Form 20/30 range has an X-, Y- and Z-axis travel of 350 x 250 x 250mm and 600 x 400 x 400mm respectively and accommodates a maximum workpiece weight of 200kg on the Form 20 and 1,000kg on the Form 30.

A maximum electrode weight of 50kg can be loaded in the Z-axis on both machine sizes.

The minimum and maximum head-to-table distances (no chuck) are 230/480mm and 250/650mm respectively.

Work table dimensions (width x depth) are 630 x 400mm for the Form 20 and 800 x 600mm for the Form 30.The work tank dimensions are 955 x 540 x 350mm on the Form 20 and 1200 x 800 x 500mm on the Form 30.

Weighing 2000 and 3000kg respectively, the Form 20 and Form 30 machines, with their subtle gray and orange color scheme and ergonomic design, blend handsomely while allowing for efficient and safe machine operation.

The Form 20/30 range has physical dimensions of 1300 x 1850 x 2500mm and 2000 x 2600 x 2700mm respectively, further illustrating GF AgieCharmilles' engineers' commitment to workshop space considerations.

Like all GF AgieCharmilles products, the Form 20/30 range is backed by the world's best structured sales and service organization, ensuring customer-focused application know-how and product support around the globe.
