Thermodyne Holdings Corporation of St. Louis, Mo.—a leading global manufacturer of welding and cutting products and accessories—has expanded its operations in China.
Thermodyne has created a new, wholly-owned company in China called Ningbo Thermadyne Cutting and Welding Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TEC). It has also created a joint venture in China called Ningbo Fulida Gas Equipment Co. Ltd. (FGE).
"TEC will support our sustaining engineering, product development, sourcing, sales and marketing efforts," says Thermodyne CEO Paul D. Melnuk. "We have leased approximately 17,500 square feet of manufacturing and office space.
"This will serve as a base for our global sourcing and engineering teams located in China. As part of the TEC initiative, we intend to establish a sales office and demonstration office in nearby Shanghai."
Thermodyne has partnered with Ningbo Longxing Group Corp. Ltd. to form FGE.
The privately-owned Longxing Group has approximately 35 per cent of the domestic Chinese market for gas equipment and manufacturers, and sells a broad line of products very similar to that of the total Thermodyne product line.
