Bihler GRM 80P punch-bending machine

Optimization of a bestseller.

With the new, ground-breaking GRM 80P punch-bending machine, Bihler confronts the challenges faced in today’s design and construction of machine tools. Owing to this machine’s high degree of automation Bihler helps the industry to make production ever more efficient and therefore ever more economical.

The optimized new edition GRM 80P complements the best-selling Bihler GRM 80E punch-bending machine, and ensures even more productivity, flexibility, profitability and compatibility with the preceding models’ tools (GRM 50, GRM 80, GRM 80E).

Radial

Just like the Bihler Forming-Centers, the GRM 80P now provides even more head-space on the work plate owing to the clear separation of punching and bending operations (26 drive positions for radial and linear processing). As a result, additional Bihler key technologies such as thread-rolling, bolting, welding etc. can be integrated without problem into every machine concept and complete components can be stored at the end of the manufacturing process.

Linear

A strong two-point eccentric press installed alongside the work plate with great space for longer cutting and follow-on composite tools expands the range of applications of the GRM 80P. The larger central aperture in the GRM 80P’s work plate provides an extensive range of possibilities to integrate central mandrel movements from the rear of the machine. A total of 10 drive positions enable flexible mounting of max. two central mandrels. The machine’s open design and resulting accessibility to all tool stations eases mounting, adjustment and maintenance of the tools and thus increases its availability.

Baseplate

The GRM 80P can be equipped with cam-controlled gripper feed-units and cross feeds as well as with the innovative NC-controlled RZV 2 radial gripper feed unit. A user-friendly, highly flexible process control allows for intuitive setting and operation of the machine.

Accessories

Feeds

The GRM 80P can be equipped with cam-controlled gripper feed-units and cross feeds (max. feed length 500 mm; max. strip width 80 mm). The mechanical feed-time reduction guarantees that material is fed precisely into the machine. The feed gripper and the non-return gripper are both hydraulically operated and electronically controlled, whereby the intermediate release of the non-return gripper is freely programmable. The innovative NC-controlled

RZV 2 radial gripper feed unit can also be integrated in the machine concept. It allows feed lengths from 0 to infinite in both directions.

Press

The 40 ton two-point eccentric press installed alongside the work plate with great space for longer cutting and follow-on composite tools (installation space for die sets up to 670 mm length and 230 mm width) expands the range of applications of the GRM 80P and therefore fulfils the demands of today’s markets for increasingly complex and voluminous parts

Central mandrel

The larger central aperture (diameter 150 mm, width 270 mm, height 70 mm) in the GRM 80P’s work plate provides an extensive range of possibilities to integrate central mandrel movements from the rear of the machine. A total of 10 drive positions enable flexible mounting of max. two central mandrels.

Control system

The GRM 80P is equipped with the new Bihler VC1-E control system which excels through simple operation via a 15" touch-screen and intuitive operator programming menu. The control system incorporates the latest components including a fan-free industrial PC and real-time operating system VX Works. The VC1-E control system is upgradeable through the addition of an industrial PC with Windows XP operating system for multi-axis applications with cam editor, tool visualization and Windows applications for additional customer requirements.

Slide units

Subject to application a broad selection of units can be used with the GRM 80P. These range from normal, narrow, bottom and wide slide units to double slide units (stroke between 25 mm and max. 95 mm; max. nominal force 90 kN). Furthermore, two separate drive positions for normal slide units are available for control movements beneath the press.
